Reddit User Lookup | How to Find the Identity of a Reddit User
Easy tricks to find out who someone is on Reddit
Unlike acquaintance-based social networks like Facebook, where everyone uses their real name, or platforms like Instagram, where many users display their real names alongside their username, most Reddit users prefer to use usernames that have nothing to do with their real name for privacy and comfort. However, that doesn’t mean it’s impossible to figure out their identity. If you have a good reason to uncover who’s behind an Reddit account, this guide is for you.
Quick Guide
- Looking for a quick & effective solution? All you have is their Reddit username? – Use a reputable reverse username search tool, such as BeenVerified
- Want to find them on other social platforms? – Try searching the same username across the Web
- Suspect they might be someone you know? – Digging into their past comments and posts might help
- Have a picture? – Try taking advantage of images they shared
Method 1. Dig into their past comments and posts
+ May reveal very private information
+ Especially useful if you suspect they might be someone you know in real life
– Requires a considerable amount of time and patience
– Mostly useful for confirming details or cross-referencing ranther than directly uncovering identity
Checking someone’s Reddit profile may seem like a basic step, but don’t underestimate it. Sometimes, seemingly small personal details shared on Reddit can provide clues about their identity, and scattered bits of information can be pieced together to form a clearer picture of who they are, helping you identify someone you know, or provide enough details and key information for further online searches.
If the user’s Reddit history doesn’t provide enough personal information, you can skip this part and try the next methods instead.
Even if the information you gather from their profile doesn’t directly reveal their real identity (like their real name), or isn’t enough to confirm it’s the person you’re suspecting, these details can still serve as supporting evidence. You can use it as a cross-reference to help verify the person you find through the methods discussed later.
Note: Reddit users can’t tell if you’ve viewed their Reddit profile. So there’s no need to worry about that.
Method 2. Search for their other social media accounts
+ Simple and convenient, with batch search tools available
– Requires careful verification to ensure it’s the same person
– Works only if the person reuses their username
To verify someone’s identity, social media profiles like Facebook and Instagram can be especially helpful. Also, think about their particular interests—everyone has their favorite online hangouts. If they’re into gaming, they’re probably active on platforms like Twitch or Discord. Music lovers? You might find them on SoundCloud or Spotify. While these platforms may not directly expose sensitive personal information, they can still offer valuable clues. And who knows, they might have linked to their other social media profiles as well!
Now, let’s explore how you can find their profiles.
You can certainly Google their Reddit username, this alone might yield some useful results. Another option is to manually open popular social media apps/sites and type in their username to see if any matches pop up. However, if this feels too tedious, and you want a more effective way to do it, consider using SuperEasy’s username search, an easy-to-use tool that can search across multiple platforms simultaneously with a single search.
To get started, just head over to the SuperEasy username search page and enter the reddit username. Click Search Now, and the tool will start scanning across different social platforms. It’s quick, straightforward, and doesn’t ask you to create an account or share any personal information.
Here’s a tip: You may notice that some Reddit usernames include 3 or 4 digits, usually at the end. These numbers are often added to ensure the username is unique, as required by Reddit. When searching, you can try using just the part of the username without the digits as your query.[2]
Verify if the found profiles belong to the same person
Remember though – just because you find a matching username doesn’t always mean it’s always the person you’re looking for. Some usernames are common, and different people might use similar names. At this point, the information gathered in Method 1 might be helpful. Did they share similar details on these platforms as they did on Reddit? Are there any small clues that could “give them away” and help you confirm this is actually their account?
Suppose you find matching usernames on Pinterest and Instagram, and their bios and photos overlap (e.g., both are designers and fabric lovers), it’s a good sign they’re the same person. To confirm it’s the same Redditor, keep exploring. Then you may find a conference photo on Instagram that matches something the Redditor described in one of their past comments, and now you can link all three profiles together.
Also, keep in mind that this method relies on the assumption that the user reuses their username across platforms. If they are privacy-conscious and use different usernames on each platform, you’ll need a more powerful tool to uncover their real identity, like the reverse username search tool mentioned below.
Method 3. Do a reverse username search
+ Get owner reports instantly by simply entering a username
+ Access to extensive personal data
+ Powered by advanced data aggregation and matching
– Comes with a small fee
Instead of sifting through Reddit history or social media profiles for clues to piece together someone’s identity, I believe you’d like a tool that can do it all in one step: just by entering the Reddit username, you can instantly locate the person and access a wealth of information about them.
Luckily, this isn’t some sci-fi thing – a reverse username search can do just that. By crawling and cross-referencing an extensive amount of public datasets and digital footprints, such tools can link usernames to real people and compile a range of relevant personal information into a single report.
Based on our tests, we found BeenVerified to be the best for Reddit user lookup. It scans billions of public data points to give you a variety of information associated with a username. For each potential match it finds, the platform will generate a detailed personal background report which may include their legal name, contact info, addresses, age, pictures, other social media accounts, education & employment, and more.

How to find out who someone is on Reddit with BeenVerified
Go to BeenVerified Reverse Username Search, then enter the Reddit user’s username and click Search.
BeenVerified will start scanning multiple platforms where that username might be used and present you with a list of potential matches. (Notice: BeenVerified is a paid service. You’ll need to sign up for a membership in order to access your full reports.)
When we tested with one of the example usernames (screenshot below), BeenVerified managed to identify 4 potential owners of the searched username, with one listed as the default result. This is presented as the most relevant match based on the site’s analysis.
On the results page, the basic details of this potential owner are displayed: name, phone numbers, email addresses, location, job, etc., giving you an overview of their information.
If you’d like to dig deeper, click the blue View button next to the name, then click View Person Report to get a more complete background report. (The username report is sometimes less detailed than background reports, as they’re organized differently.)
Why a username search can yield multiple possible owners
It’s quite normal to see multiple possible owners when searching for a username, because different people may share the same or a similar username across different platforms. For example, if you’re looking for someone whose Reddit username is “abc”, although it’s unique on Reddit itself, it’s possible that another person’s Twitter username is also “abc”, or someone else on Instagram uses the same name. When you search for “abc” on people search engines, the results page will display profiles for all these individuals because they are all people associated with that username. Usually, the less common a username is, the fewer results you’ll get.
In fact, the primary goal of these people search sites is to provide as much relevant information (possible owners’ reports in this case) as possible right away. While absolute accuracy is ideal, they focus on balancing efficiency with accuracy.
If you feel that the default owner doesn’t seem like a good match, you can switch to the other potential owners and review their detailed personal reports.
Why did my username search yield no results?
BeenVerified isn’t perfect and may not trace every username. Usernames that are deliberately kept anonymous, newly created, or inactive for a long time typically have little information associated with them, making them harder to trace.
Additionally, while BeenVerified is one of the best reverse username search tools available, it can’t guarantee 100% accuracy of the results. The tool leverages advanced data aggregation and processing mechanisms to scan and analyze vast amounts of data—millions, even billions of records—far faster than manual searches. However, due to the scale of data processed, reports may sometimes include outdated or inaccurate information, particularly for older or less-tracked accounts.
Method 4. Take advantage of images they shared
+ Additional source of data beyond text
– Works only if the user has shared photos previously
– Success of reverse image search can be unpredictable
In Method 1, we discussed how to extract key information from a Reddit profile to uncover their identity. Now, let’s focus specifically on image information. If they’ve posted any photos in their posts or comments, or shared images via Reddit chat, those images can be valuable clues.
For instance, suppose they posted a photo of a room in their house. Even if you have no idea what their home looks like, there’s a chance they’ve shared the same photo (or a very similar one) on platforms like Facebook or Instagram. A quick reverse image search might help you locate it (unless their social media accounts are private). This could help you confirm their name and potentially lead you to more personal information, such as their family details, location, work history, education, etc.

For the best results, you can try Google, Bing, TinEye, and Yandex together. The steps are basically the same, and each search engine may show different results, increasing your chances of success. However, keep in mind that reverse image search can be unpredictable; sometimes it yields results, other times it doesn’t. It also requires high-quality images.
That’s it! We hope one or more of the methods above were helpful. If you run into any issues or have any ideas during your search, feel free to share them in the comments section below. We’d love to hear your thoughts!
