How to Find Someone on Pinterest – 4 Real Working Methods

find someone on Pinterest

Pinterest is a popular social media platform for exploring visual ideas and inspirations. But what if you’re not just looking for inspiration, but hoping to find someone’s Pinterest to get a deeper peek into their world? Maybe you’re curious about what your partner is secretly pinning, or trying to find a friend or even someone you’re crushing on. Browsing their Pinterest profile may give you insights about what they’re really into!

While there are tons of guides about how to find someone on Pinterest, many of them are outdated or just don’t work. So in this article, I’ll share the most practical, working methods I’ve tested myself. These tricks will help you locate the profiles you’re looking for easily and effectively.

  • You’ll search by: the person’s Pinterest name or username.

Pinterest’s search bar is a convenient way to find profiles if you know someone’s Pinterest display name or username. Here’s how to use this tool across different devices.

Now, browse the list of matched accounts to find the one you’re looking for.

💡Tips for better results:
  • Refine your search queries. You can try variations of the person’s name, including their full name, alias, and nicknames. These are often used as Pinterest display names.

Since the display name isn’t unique, it may lead to multiple results with the same or similar names. To narrow things down, you can combine their hobbies, professions, or specific niche. For example, instead of just James, try James podcaster, James home design, James DIY craft, etc. This is especially helpful when looking for influencers or creators who tend to add relevant keywords to their display names for better visibility.
  • Explore boards or pins related to the person’s interest or niche. You may stumble upon their content or the profiles of others in the same circle.

Option 2 – People search tool

  • You’ll search by: the person’s name, phone number, email address, or any of their usernames.

People search tools are like digital detectives of the Internet. By crawling a massive amount of public records and social media data, they allow you to delve into someone’s background details and trace their digital footprints across the web, including Pinterest, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and more.

In my experience, BeenVerified and Spokeo are the top choices for finding Pinterest profiles, due to their broad social network coverage and seamless user experience. I’ve tried other similar tools, but honestly, none performed quite as well as these two.

BeenVerified

BeenVerified is a convenient and powerful tool for finding social media. You can search for an individual by name, phone number, email address, or username, and the whole process is super straightforward. Simply go to the BeenVerified website, plug in what you know about the person and click Search.

After a few moments, you’ll receive a detailed report which you can unlock with a subscription. Navigate to Contact Information > Social Media, where you’ll find any connected profiles, including Pinterest (if available).

Spokeo

Starting as a social network aggregator in 2006, Spokeo has since built an edge over social media search. It combs through over 120 platforms and billions of public records to give you a thorough look at someone’s digital life. From mainstream networks like Facebook, Instagram, X(Twitter), and Pinterest to niche and even dating websites, Spokeo has it covered.

Just visit the Spokeo website, and choose your search option – name, phone number, email, or username. I recommend starting with an email search as it’s typically tied to registration and more likely to unearth a solid set of linked profiles. Type in the info, click search, and the website will look through its database within minutes.

The report will reveal the email owner and a list of social media profiles that match the email address.

What’s unique about Spokeo is that it doesn’t just stop at one search query but can scan multiple usernames and email addresses that belong to the person. This will greatly expand the search scope and increase your chance of success.

You can also proceed to a background search by name, which may uncover additional social media profiles tapping into the person’s name or phone number. Besides, it will provide insights into their address history, court records, marriage records, wealth, personal interests, and so on.

What if the report doesn’t provide a Pinterest profile

In most cases, BeenVerified and Spokeo will deliver the results you’re after. If a Pinterest profile doesn’t turn up, it could mean the person doesn’t have a Pinterest account or the tools fail to locate it. These tools aren’t perfect. They can sometimes miss a profile or give inaccurate information. For example, if you see a broken profile link, it might be because the username has been changed but the report hasn’t been updated yet.

If the report doesn’t yield satisfying results, here are some steps you can take:

Option 3 – Reverse image search tool

  • You’ll search by: the person’s picture

If you have a picture of the person, an image search might help. Just upload a picture to your preferred search engine, and it can instantly detect where the picture (or visually similar ones) has been used online. That said, if the image has been posted publicly on Pinterest, you’ll likely locate the source. Note that private Pinterest accounts won’t appear in the search engines.

Search on Google Images

To determine whether these tools can reliably trace a Pinterest account through an image, I’ve tested several free options – by uploading images directly from Pinterest or photos of my friends who I know own Pinterest accounts. Among those I tried, Google and Yandex stood out. While they’re not perfect in recognizing every photo, they did uncover helpful clues worth exploring.

  • Google – Not very effective in facial recognition and delivers limited results for people. But if the picture explicitly matches an avatar from Pinterest (or other social media networks), you might pinpoint the corresponding account.
  • Yandex – Better at spotting visual matches or similarities and identifying related pins, but it fell short in locating specific Pinterest profiles as Google does.

Option 4 – Social media cross-reference

  • You’ll search by: the person’s phone number, or email address

Finding other social media accounts beyond just Pinterest can also help. By discovering additional profiles, you’ll gain more ways to connect with the person or gather more potential usernames to enhance your search.

Instagram is a great starting point since it’s another visual-oriented network like Pinterest. First, you can check their IG bio to see if it includes a Pinterest link

If not, take note of the username and search it on Pinterest for a match.

This approach applies to other platforms too. For example, if you’re connected with the person on Snapchat, take a look at the Snapchat bio or stories to see if there’s a mention of their Pinterest account. Or you can search their Snapchat username on Pinterest.

Don’t know any of the person’s social media profiles? No worries. Use their phone number or email address to locate their accounts. These unique identifiers is like a key to tracing someone in the virtual landscape.

To wrap up, there are plenty of ways to find someone on Pinterest, depending on the information you have at hand. Pinterest’s built-in search bar is handy but limited to searching by display names and usernames. If you don’t have either of those, people search tools could be your best bet.

Methods that don’t work on Pinterest (and what to try instead)

Many methods for finding Pinterest users no longer work. These outdated tips still appear in many guides and can waste your time. Let’s clear up some myths – here’s what to avoid and alternative approaches that help.

Search the email address directly on Pinterest

Simply typing an email address into the Pinterest search bar won’t bring up the corresponding account. Most of the time, you’ll see a message like “Sorry, we couldn’t find anyone named example@mail.com”.

What to try instead: While Pinterest doesn’t allow direct account search by email, it does let you send messages through an email. However, during my test, this feature isn’t always reliable: sometimes you can message someone on Pinterest after entering an email address, but other times it fails to create a conversation. There’s no official explanation for how this feature works. So if you’ve got the person’s email address and want to reach out via Pinterest, it’s worth a try, but there’s no guarantee of success.

Sync contacts with Pinterest

Some older articles recommend syncing your contacts with Pinterest to connect with friends. But if you’ve tried it, you’ll notice that such an option isn’t available.

What to try instead: You can upload your contacts to other social media like IG, X(Twitter), or Snapchat, usually via their app settings They still offer the contact sync function and will suggest accounts that match your saved phone numbers or email addresses. Once you find a profile on these platforms, cross-reference the username or look for any mentions of a Pinterest page.
