However, the convenience they offer often outweighs these limitations. In many cases, the results may exceed your expectations, providing insights you might not have found through manual searching alone.

Method 2: Enter the URL: tinder.com/@username 

Using the person’s Tinder username to find their profile is a pretty straightforward way. Even though you may not know their exact username on Tinder, you can check any known usernames they use on other social media platforms.

What you have to do is type tinder.com/@username (replacing “username” with the actual handle). 

When there is an exact match, you should be taken right to their profile page. Till then you can check if the pictures you can preview help you identify whether this profile belongs to the person you’re searching for.

However, if the username doesn’t exist, you’ll see a message stating, “The person you’re looking for may have changed their ID”. In this situation, you need to try other methods.

Method 3: Search for potential matches on Google

Some users may use their first name or nickname as the display name on Tinder. You can use it to search for potential matches with the site: operator.

What you have to do is enter “first name or nickname of the person” site:tinder.com and scroll through the results when available. Remember to enclose the first name or nickname with double quotes, which will tell the search engine to return results that contain the exact phrase. When there is more than one result, you will need to spend some time identifying which profile belongs to the person you’re looking for.

In addition, the Tinder profile displays the person’s age, along with other basic information such as their school (current or graduated). If provided, it also shows their job title and workplace location.

Therefore, you can add this information into your search query. For instance, you can enter “John” 23 site:tinder.com to get more accurate results. 

Method 4: Conduct a reverse image search

Reverse image searching is a powerful technique that may help you discover if someone has a Tinder profile. This method works by using photos as search queries instead of text, allowing you to find instances where the same image appears across different platforms, including dating apps.

To perform a reverse image search, start by selecting clear, cropped photoS of the person you’re looking for. Choose an image they’re likely to use on a dating profile. Next, visit Google Image Search page and upload the photo.

Once you’ve initiated the search, carefully review the results for any links to Tinder. 

If your first attempt doesn’t yield any useful information, don’t be discouraged! Try repeating the process with different photos of the person, as they may have used various images on their profile. 

While reverse image searching can be effective, it’s important to remember that it’s not foolproof. Some individuals use unique photos for their dating profiles. 

Method 5: Check bank statements (for shared accounts)

Users can use Tinder for free. But to unlock premium features like “See Who Likes You”, they’ll need to purchase Tinder Gold or Tinder Platinum. If you share a joint bank account with the person in question and they’ve purchased subscriptions on Tinder, you may be able to spot Tinder-related transactions:

If they’re on iOS

You can sign in to your financial institution website or mobile app, then view the recent purchases from the App Store (It should also show the merchant name – Apple.). There should be an option such as View Receipt that allows you to view more details about the transaction, such as payment history on the specific apps.

However, it’s important to note that this feature is not available for all financial institutions.^[1] Some users said that they’ve never seen purchase details appearing on a bank or credit card statement, only the merchant’s name.^[2] If that’s your case, you may need to try other methods.

If they’re on Android

On your bank statement, check Google Play purchases under the name “GOOGLE*Tinder LLC”, or something like that.

How to find someone on Tinder within the app

If you have a Tinder account or you’re not against the idea of creating an account, there is one trick that can potentially help you find your search subject. Although you can’t search for a specific person on Tinder, you can adjust who you can see on Tinder by updating your Discovery preferences:

• Tap on your profile icon.
• Go to Settings.
• Scroll down to Discovery. Update your sexual orientation (the gender of your search subject), the age and distance of the person you want to see on Tinder. Then start swiping!

As you can see, this requires some time and patience for you to possibly come across their profile. We suggest you start swiping while they’re playing on their phone. However, it’s still not foolproof. If they utilize the app’s built-in blocking feature called Block Contacts^[3], you won’t appear on each other’s match feed. This feature allows users to block specific contacts without those contacts knowing they’ve been blocked. It’s important to note that someone doesn’t need to have an active Tinder account to be blocked – the app uses contact information to prevent potential matches.

If you don’t feel it is a bother, you can use your friend’s phone number to create an account. However, keep in mind that if the person you’re looking for has blocked the contact information associated with this new account, you still won’t see each other. Also, creating multiple accounts or using others’ information may violate Tinder’s terms of service.

While Tinder can be a great platform to meet new people and expand social networks, its use in an exclusive relationship could indicate a breach of fidelity.

If you suspect your partner is using Tinder behind your back or potentially cheating, the best approach is to have an open, honest conversation with them about your concerns. Addressing issues of potential infidelity or dishonesty directly through communication is usually the most effective and ethical approach. We strongly advise against actions like snooping on their installed apps, secretly checking browsing history, or accessing private email inboxes. These behaviors can severely damage trust and relationships, often causing more harm than good.
